The GRPC Fall Friendzy is intended to be a fun tournament to celebrate the end of the outdoor Pickleball season at Belknap. It is also the Event where the Board of the GRPC will recognize the Draigh Award Winners for 2023.
Registration is now open. Anyone can view the event signup, but you must have an active membership account and log into your GRPC Account to complete registration.
The Fall Friendzy is a special event where we place teams based on combined rating rather than by Gender/Skill/Age. It is similar to Friday Night Lights with a twist. The Tournament Committee will handicap some teams and will do its best to make sure all pools are as even as possible. The tournament Format is a Round Robin with games to 15. The registration fee is $20 per player.
The 2022 Fall Friendzy will be a little different than past Fall Friendzy’s. We will be reporting scores to DUPR in an effort to get more GRPC members a DUPR rating. There will be Two Divisions: Young’uns for under 50 years old, and Legends for 50+. Ideally each division will consist of 6 Round Robin Pools, with 7 teams in each pool. That is a limit of 42 teams in each Division. Legends start at 9 a.m. and Young’uns at 12:30 p.m.
We are only able to take a total of 84 teams between the 2 start times and both players must register, pay and electronically sign the waiver through the GRPC Website. www.grpickleball.com. All players must also be current members of the GRPC. You do not have to select a division, we will place teams in divisions based upon a team’s combined rating, with handicap. This should make for a very fair and competitive event.
The tournament is open to both men and women. Teams can be 2 women, 2 men or mixed. Everyone will be in the same tournament, just divided up based on combined skill levels, with a handicap. Players over 50 partnered with someone under 50 will play in the Young’uns division.
Divisions will be based on the combined DUPR, UTPR or equivalent gender doubles ratings for both players. All pools could be made up of Mixed, Women’s & Men’s teams.
Handicaps will most likely be similar to what we have done in the past but we reserve the right to adjust any ratings we feel necessary.
You must sign up with a partner, we are not able to match anyone up. This event is limited to 84 teams, so sign up soon.
There will be a Hot Dog Cart there for those of you who would like to buy food and we will be selling BEER CITY OPEN, State Games and GRPC Championship items that are left over from this year. We will have jugs of Ice Water and some Snacks but no bottled water or Gatorade so plan accordingly. We’re trying to reduce the number of plastic bottles at these events.
